Q. Who is LSS?
LSS is one of the largest private non-profit human service agencies in South Dakota serving people of all ages, faiths, races and economic status through a continuum of services. Our whole-person, family-centered approach to care ensures that individuals, children, families, and communities have access to the support and resources they need to thrive, children and families have safe, stable home environments, and our community is a welcoming and inclusive place for all people. Q. Why South Dakota CARES?
Our day of giving means so much more than what it may seem. It is an ode to our inception in May 1921 – when a group of more than 100 women held a donation day and prepared supplies for the opening of the House of Mercy, the first of many LSS services. In honor of that memorable day, 103 years ago, we host South Dakota CARES, a statewide day of giving that brings all South Dakotans together simultaneously to learn about the difference made through donations, celebrate stories of positive change, and generate financial support for children, families, and communities in South Dakota.

South Dakota CARES is LSS' annual day of giving fueled by the power of social media, storytelling, match and challenge gifts, and community impact.

Q. Who can donate?
Anyone can donate! Donations through the South Dakota CARES online portal to LSS are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card. Donations will be received and receipted by GiveGab & LSS. If you'd rather mail in your gift, send to:
