South Dakota CARES, Inc.
In 1925, the polio epidemic greatly affected South Dakota citizens. In order to help children inflicted with this terrible disease, a group of concerned citizens began raising money to help these families with doctor bills and medical equipment. In 1939, they formed the South Dakota Society for Crippled Children. Our name has since been changed to South Dakota CARES! CARES represents: Caring, Advancement, Respect, Education and Solutions for families and individuals living with disabilities.
South Dakota CARES has helped South Dakotans with disabilities for 69 years! Individuals gain hope, support and greater independence through our programs and services outlined under "Programs and Services." Our mission to serve the people of South Dakota will continue for many generations to come.
South Dakota CARES’ corporate office is located in Pierre, with satellite offices in Madison, Watertown, Huron and Rapid City.
